Identity should be sovereign.

Sovereign Identity Systems builds infrastructure that puts identity back where it belongs — in the hands of the individual. Open standards. Client-side encryption. Australian-built for Australian regulation.

Why we exist

The way identity works today is backwards. Every time you open an account, engage a professional, or access a service, you hand over personal information to a system you do not control. That information is stored on servers you cannot see, governed by policies you did not write, and exposed to breaches you cannot prevent.

Sovereign Identity Systems exists because there is a better model. Self-sovereign identity places the individual at the centre. You hold your own verified credentials. You choose who sees them. You revoke access when you choose. The institutions you deal with get cryptographic proof of your identity — without needing to store it themselves.

This is not a theoretical position. The standards exist. The cryptography exists. The regulatory environment in Australia now demands it.

The moment

In December 2024, the Australian Parliament passed the most significant expansion of its anti-money laundering laws in the regime's history. From 1 July 2026, approximately 100,000 businesses — including lawyers, conveyancers, real estate agents, accountants, and trust service providers — must conduct identity verification on their clients before providing designated services.

These businesses need compliance infrastructure. Their clients need a way to verify once and present many times, instead of repeating the same identity checks across every professional they engage.

Sovereign Identity Systems builds the infrastructure for both sides of that equation.

How we build

Open standards, not proprietary lock-in.

Every product in the SIS ecosystem is built on W3C Verifiable Credentials and Decentralised Identifiers. Your credentials are portable. Your identity is not trapped in our system or anyone else's.

Privacy by design, not by policy.

Client-side encryption means your data is encrypted before it leaves your device. We cannot read your credentials. We designed it that way on purpose.

Australian-built for Australian regulation.

Our products are designed specifically for the Australian regulatory environment — the AML/CTF Act, the AUSTRAC reporting framework, and the Trusted Digital Identity Framework. We are not adapting a foreign product to local rules. We are building from the ground up.

Permanence over novelty.

We are not chasing trends. We are building infrastructure designed to outlast the hype cycles. Open standards. Classical architecture. Tools built to last decades, not quarters.

Built from first principles

Every product and system in the Sovereign Identity Systems ecosystem carries a name drawn from Latin and classical roots. This is not decorative. It reflects how we think about what we build.

Clavis
The domain you are visiting right now. Latin for "key." The key that opens the citadel.
ARCIS
From arx, arcis: citadel, fortress. The vault that holds what matters.
AGENTIS
From agens: one who acts. Smart contracting and verifiable identity for autonomous agents — B2B, AI-to-AI, and person-to-person agreements, all with cryptographic proof of who is acting and on whose authority.
AEGIS
The shield of Athena. A bespoke AI Technical Officer — an intelligent agent that oversees technical operations, security posture, and compliance monitoring for your business. Available as a managed service.
AURIS
From aurum: gold. A bespoke AI Operations and Finance Officer — an intelligent agent that manages operational and financial workflows for your business. Available as a managed service.

These are tools built with the permanence of stone and the precision of classical engineering. The naming is the first signal of that intent.

The team

Sovereign Identity Systems was founded in Sydney, Australia by professionals bridging finance, law, and technology — united by a conviction that Australia's digital identity infrastructure should be built on privacy-preserving, standards-compliant foundations.

We are currently in build phase — developing ARCIS for early access ahead of the July 2026 Tranche 2 deadline.
