In a B2B transaction, each party must establish who they are dealing with, whether the person they are talking to has authority to bind the organisation, and whether the organisation itself is legitimate. In AI-to-AI interactions, systems need to verify that a counterpart agent is authorised to negotiate, what scope it has been granted, and when that authority expires. In person-to-person agreements, signatories need their identity bound to the contract with the same reliability as a notarised signature.

For AI agents, AGENTIS credentials prove three things: the identity of the person or organisation that authorised the agent, the specific permissions and scope granted to it, and the time window in which those permissions are valid. When an agent presents an AGENTIS credential to a counterparty — human or machine — the counterparty verifies all three claims cryptographically, instantly, without trusting a central authority.
For B2B and person-to-person agreements, AGENTIS binds verified identities to smart contracts. Each signatory's credentials are embedded in the agreement at the point of signing — not attached as a separate document, but cryptographically woven into the contract itself. The result is an agreement where authenticity and identity are inseparable.
